“Fleeting” in Twitter.

On 2nd March 2020 Twitter announced that they are testing a feature that will allow the tweets to disappear 24 hours after posting. The feature is named “fleets” and it will be similar to the stories feature of Instagram and Snapchat.

Some twitter users were furious with Twitter’s new feature and went on to trend #RIPTwitter hashtag. They complained that this feature will make the twitter similar to other social media platforms.

Currently “fleets” is being tested in Brazil only.

"We're hoping that Fleets can help people share the fleeting thoughts that they would have been unlikely to Tweet," he wrote in a seven-part post on Twitter.

Twitter’s product lead, Kayvon Beykpour said that “fleets” is for them who find it uncomfortable to express their ideas or views publicly. He went on to say that permanency in Twitter might make the users intimidating. According to him, the new feature would allow the people to share their fleeting thoughts that they would not like to tweet.

All these details were included in his seven-part Twitter post.
