Samsung involved in Data Breaching?

If you are a Samsung user, you should be aware of the “Find my mobile” app. Days ago the users noticed a strange “1/1” push notification from the above app. And the news is that, the notification is a result of a Samsung data breach.

When the news came out in public and everyone started to talk about it, Samsung raised their voice stating the notification was a result of an internal test.

“The Register” says otherwise. According to them, a small number of users were able to access other user accounts” because of this data breach by Samsung. This is the official statement from “The Register”.

“A technical error resulted in a small number of users being able to access the details of another user. As soon as we became of aware of the incident, we removed the ability to log in to the store on our website until the issue was fixed. We will be contacting those affected by the issue with further details.”

In some cases the notification showed “Find My Mobile app disabled”. You cannot uninstall the app unless you root your Samsung, but you can disable it making it nonfunctional. So such notification with a disabled app is a concern.

For now, the best you can do is changing your Samsung account password and wait for additional information from Samsung.
